Class 151 (001-170 : 170 locomotives)
![]() |
| In about 1970, DB needed new electric locomotives for heavy freight
trains. It was because class 194 and class 150 are too slow when hauling
heavy fright trains. In 1973 new locomotives of class 151 were built by Krauss-Maffei, and Krupp. The plan of class 151 was based on those of class 110, class 140, and class 103. The length of class 151 is 19,490mm, weight 118t, power output 6,000kW, max speed 120km/h, and the wheel arangement Co-Co. At first, the livery of class 151 is blue/beige or green, and recently some locomotives had new red livery. Class 151 is still operated for heavy freight trains. |
