BR110.1

E10.1/BR110.1 (101-264/271-307/313-484/505-510 : 379 locos + 485-504/511)
In 1954, the mass-production of new express locomotives of E10.1 was started. 379 locomotives were built until 1970.
Main parts of the locomotives of E10.1 were based on the results from the experiments by E10.0. And same parts were used for classes 140, 141, 150, 151, 103, 184 and so on.
The front face of E10.1 had two windoows and was similar to E10 001. Seven air filters and a window were arranged on the side. Locomotives from E10 260 had new front face. There were some differences in the windous and the arrangement of head lights between the new face and the old one. And locomotives from E10 288 (This locomotive was correctly E10.12, not E10.1.) had streamedlined front face and a cover for air filters on the side.
In 1968 DB adopted a new numbering system (UIC - code), and E10.1 renumbered to class 110.
Locomotives of E10.1 and class 110 were normally delivered with blue/black livery, but 110 239-244 / 250-254, 112 264-270 / 308-312 with blue/beige (The Rheingold livery), 112 485-504 with red/beige (TEE livery). Quite a few locomotives were changed to blue/beige (Thalkys), Orientrot (Red lively, era V.) and Verkehrsrot (Traffic red lively, the latest one).
110 485 - 110 504 were renumbered from class 114, and 110 511 from 139 134.
Recently this class was operated for suburban traffic. Since class 111 and class 143 are more faster, there is few chance for class 110 to be operated for long-distance trains. Even after the ICE accident in 1998, class 110 was little operated for `Ersatzzug` - substitute train for ICE.
The length of class 110.1 is 16,400mm, weight 83.6t, wheel arrangement Bo-Bo, power output 3,700kW and maxium speed 140km/h.
