BR 53 is actually class 50. After renumbering in 1968 there was the problem that some locos of class had 4-digit numbers, so the first number was added to the class number. That means that the steam loco 50 3075 became 053 075-8. This was possible as the "original" class 52 (the war loco) and 53 had been withdrawn a long time ago. So former class 50 became class 050 - 053 after 1968.

You see mainly locomotives of the BR 50 in the shed of the Lehrte depot in 1974.One locomotive is of the BR 044 and has her homebase in Ottbergen depot.
