BR 53 is actually class 50. After renumbering in 1968 there was the problem that some locos of class had 4-digit numbers, so the first number was added to the class number. That means that the steam loco 50 3075 became 053 075-8. This was possible as the "original" class 52 (the war loco) and 53 had been withdrawn a long time ago. So former class 50 became class 050 - 053 after 1968. |

You see mainly locomotives of the BR 50 in the shed of the Lehrte depot in 1974.One locomotive is of the BR 044 and has her homebase in Ottbergen depot. |
