In 1977 the Vista Dome Car was sold, and the 'Bar' Car (ARDmz) was
coupled to "Rheingold" instead of it. In 1979, the InterCity network was much improved. From this year, all InterCity trains had 2nd class coaches, and some InterCity started to run at the speed of 200 km/h at Hamburg - Hannover, Hamburg - Bremen, Nürnberg - Augsburg - München. The new InterCity trains were popular, and then many TEE trains (consisted only with 1st class coaches) became 'InterCity'. In the late 1970s "Rheingold" was operated between Hoek van Holland / Amsterdam and Genève. The trains form and to H.v.Holland and that from and to Amsterdam were coupled and uncoupled at Utrecht CS. Some wagons were divided from "Rheingold" at Basel SBB, and went to Milano C or Chur. In 1982 and 1983, the Bar wagon wasn't coupled. And Rheingold was operated only between Amsterdam and Basel. |

From 1962, the Vista Dome car had been a symbol of "Rheingold".
But because of its high maintenance cost, the car was abolished in 1977.
Instead of it, the 'Bar' Car (ARDmz) was coupled. This wagon consisted
of four compartments (1st class) and a bar. In this bar, light meal and
drinks were served. Three of this wagons were built. To adjust 200 km/h running, some improvements were made to the TEE/IC wagons. The bottom edge of the rebuilt wagons were painted in red (1st class coaches) or blue (2nd class coaches) instead of black. |

So it is easy to rproduce the train composition of this Rheingold. N : Arnold`s model can be obtained. |
